Los Altos Hills is relatively moderate but it does get hot in the summer and because of the hilly environment it also gets cold in the winter. We tried to be conscious in a simple, dumb way of those things that would make for a physically comfortable house in all weather conditions without air conditioning or without excessive heat loads. The house does seem to take care of itself reasonably well.
